contradictory statements in
astrological prediction!
(From research article by B.N.Acharya m.a.,Ph.D. 's thesis)
--Dhundiraja holds that if Rahu is situated in the seventh house in the radix and is aspected by the sun or saturn and receives no aspect from a benefic, the child meets its death before the completion of its twelth year.
venkatesha states thatthe result occurs in rahu in such a position is aspected by the sun or the moon.
varahamihira states that if the wanning moon is posited in the twelth house and malefics are occupying the first and eight houses the child meets an immidiatedeath, provided the kendras are not occupied by the benefics.
kalyanvarma describes this yoga in a different way.according to him,the result occurs if the waning moon is situated in the twelth house and if the malefics occupy the first, seventh and the eight houses provided the kendras are occupied by the malefics.
if we analyse both the views,we find as it is observed by Mr,S.shastri that if the wanning moon is posited in the twelth house, the sun must be posited in the first house.hence the position of the sunin the yoga being fixedthe position of the remaining two malefics viz.mars and saturn remains to be considered.
the interpretation of the view of kalyanvarma comes to the effect that these two planets must be situated in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth or tenth house(irrespictive of the position of the benefitcs in the house) to form the yoga, but the tenth house being one of the upachaya hpouses ,the position of malefics in this house is considered as favourable.
Hence the position of these two planets as in the first, fourth, seventh and the eighth houses would form the yoga.
Varahmihira's view is to the effect that the position of these two planets in the first and the eight houses would constitute the yoga if benefics do not occypy the kendras!!
